For a member who encourages others to join and participate with AMC, or promotes the club and our Chapter by recruiting, speaking for or representing AMC

Unsung Hero

Rick Bryan

Awarded to a member who supports the chapter ‘behind the scenes’ in less visible  ways, such as supporting the chapter’s various committee chairs and its activity and program leaders

Appie of the Year

Th Chapter’s highest honor is awarded to an individual who gives selflessly for the good of the club and the chapter; a person who works tirelessly and often behind the scenes, organizing and leading in fact and by example.  The Appie frequently leads for more than one activity, has done so for many years, and has held multiple committee positions.  This person exemplifies what it means to be an AMC volunteer.

The Appie of the Year honor for 2024 is given to

Rich Siegelman

Rich has been a hike leader for more than twenty-five years and served on the Hiking Committee for more than fifteen years.  He’s also part of the Young Members Committee, and maintains the chapter’s leader records.  Rich has famously led the 23 mile Suffern-Bear Mountain hike in one day several times, and continues to encourage and assist other leaders along the SBM adventure.  The chapter would not be where it is today without the selfless dedication of volunteers like Rich Siegelman.
