The "Singles & Sociables" program of the Chapter continues to grow and develop. Originally formed as a Singles Subcommittee of the Walks & Outings Committee in early 1995, in 1996, we became the "Singles & Sociables" Committee. That name was selected to be a bit more descriptive than "Singles" alone, because we do NOT restrict ourselves to unattached people.
Singles & Sociables outings are a little different from other Club outings because at our events a greater emphasis is on the social aspects of the outing rather than the technical aspects of the activity itself. Our outings are ideally suited to new people as an introduction to the people and activities of the Chapter and Club.
The Singles & Sociables Committee runs many different kinds of activities. We hike, do trail work, bike, backpack, canoe, etc., and we have dinners, dances and parties. For a good idea of what we do, take a look at our online Singles Schedule, which contains the descriptions of our upcoming events for the next few months. We're sure that you will find several outings or activities that interest you.
Many of our outings do not require any rating system other than the title will usually contain "Singles" and/or (S). When we offer outings that are usually classified by difficulty or skill requirements, we use the basically the same classification system as the Activity Committee that is responsible for that activity. We may modify their system slightly to suit our needs.
The BEST way to get more information about our fast growing program is to join us on a Singles & Sociables outing; we'd love to have you. If you'd like to talk to someone first, contact the current Singles & Sociables Committee Chair.

The leader may modify or cancel a hike due to weather, trail conditions, or any other reason deemed prudent for the safety of the group.
Rating codes are intended as a general guide only. We strive for accuracy and consistency, but cannot guarantee them. If you have concerns relating to your safety or enjoyment, discuss them with the leader in advance.
Rating Systems defined by the responsible activity committees. As an example: If we co-sponsor a Singles Canoe & Kayak trip, it would be listed as BW (Brown Water), CL 1 (Class 1 whitewater), CL 2 (Class 2 whitewater) or other similar classification. If Singles & Sociables Committee co-sponsors the event, the title will contain "Singles" or (S).
