All the strokes and maneuvers are explained and demonstrated very well, but the footage on rolling is outstanding. Open Canoe Roll, The, 18 minutes. Discussion of solo open canoe strokes. Demonstrated by a left-sided paddler. Solo Canoeing: Whitewater Bound. A Flatwater Lesson with Tom Foster on Whitewater Technique; 115 minutes; 1992. Produced and hosted by Tom Foster former head of the National Instruction Committee (NIC) of the ACA. Tom gives an extremely analytical discussion and demonstration of every whitewater canoe stroke and maneuver. His is the first and clearest explanation and demonstration of "paddling on the inside of the circle," and how to use this technique to paddle an effective straight line. Solo Playboating, 39 minutes, 1991. Kent Ford gives lots of helpful pointers for improving your OC-1 whitewater boating. He is especially good on the forward stroke and on surfing. Compare his set-up for rolling to Bob Footes. Whitewater Self Defense. Directed towards kayakers and helps them avoid trouble and deal with everday problems.
