Schrader Creek - T359 to mouth at Towanda Creek
- Distance 12.7 miles, Gradient 45 ft/mi, Class II- to IV, runs in spring during smowmelt and within four days of hard rain.
- Put-in where T359 crosses the creek.
- Rapids are almost non-stop. About five miles below the put-in, approaching a footbridge, the creek zigzags down a long and complex ledge rapid that climaxes in a sharp and tricky three foot ledge (mean hydraulic). Scout this. Otherwise there are no major problems.
- Take-out in Powell at town bridge by SR3006.
Loyalsock Creek - US Rt 220 to World's End State Park above Forksville
- Distance ~10+ miles, Gradient 41 ft/mi, Class II to III+ (IV), runs in spring during smowmelt and within four days of hard rain.
- Put-in in Ringdale US Rt 220.
- Rapids are fairly continuous, but not very difficult, except for about three miles below the start, where the creek thunders over an irregular sandstone reef (can be run by some after scout, or portaged on the left). Afterward, long, steepening, and complex boulder patches and ledgy rapids demand your attention.
- Take-out at World's End State Park.
Stoneycreek River - Holsopple to SR4022 (Stony Canyon)
- Distance 6.0 miles, Gradient 35 ft/mi, Class III to IV, runs in spring during smowmelt and within five days of hard rain.
- Put-in in Hollsopple at State Rt 403.
- Characterized by tiers of tilting ledges that create some awesome stoppers and waves when the water is high. At moderate levels these long rapids are adequately spaced by pools, and the playing is superb. When you reach an island a mile below Shade Creek, take the right side but stick to the left to avoid some nasty holes. A little father, a high dam is easy to spot and should be portaged on the left because of loose large spikes. Below this dam, on a right hand bend, a difficult to spot diagonal pipeline forms a bad roller. Carry on right, but last year we carried on left and some ran a bumpy opening near left; the center is also runnable at low levels. The going is then easy until the end.
- Take-out at SR4022/Carpenters Park on river left.
Shade Creek - confluence of Dark and Clear to the mouth
- Distance 9.6 miles, Gradient 58 ft/mi, Class III to IV, runs in spring during smowmelt and within two days of hard rain.
- Put-in on State Rt 160, on Clear Shade Creek, or carry to confluence with Dark Shade.
- Stairstep descent over boulder and cobble piles (due to the flood of 97), ledges, and some strainers on braided spots.
- Take-out at State Rt 601 in Seanor.
Lower Yok - Ohiopyle Park to Brunner Falls
- Distance 7+ miles, Gradient 27 ft/mi (1.3 mi @ 48), Class I+ to III+, runs all season, but subject to permit acquisition.
- Put-in below the falls in Ohiopyle.
- Starts with the "Loop", with some nice rapids culminating in "Cucumber Falls". Afterward, the whitewater is composed of an ideal sequence of usually short and moderately steep rapidsseparated by pools or mild riffles. The rapids are formed by car to room-sized sandstone boulders and sloping ledges that, at summer levels, provide you with tortuous routes, blind turns, countless eddies, and plenty of surfing waves and holes.
- Take-out at Brunner Run, shuttle bus ticket is required.
