Chapter Youth Program Re-Launches

The New York-North Jersey Chapter is gearing up to re-launch its chapter youth program, AMC Outings for Urban Kids (AOK), which will link urban youth groups with AMC leaders interested in sharing the wonder and adventure of the outdoors. The program will be targeted to children and teens who may not have had any previous opportunities to explore the natural environment.

If you are interested in becoming a youth activity leader, please contact Richard Barcia at 212-303-8889 (w), (212) 832-0232 (h) or for further information. Please note that all leaders must undergo a background check as well as training, which will be provided by the AMC.

We are also presently looking for at least two chapter youth program coordinators to help supervise the program and serve as liaisons to participating agencies.

We hope that you will consider becoming part of this exciting and rewarding endeavor.

Chapter Publications

The New York-North Jersey Chapter has three major publications:

SchedulesThe Chapter Schedule

The NY-NoJ Chapter Schedule is unique among AMC Chapters. We are the only chapter to print our activity schedule three times a year and in a pocketbook format. It contains a wealth of information about all of our activities and is a valuable benefit for members who affiliate with the NY-NoJ Chapter. Each issue requires hundreds of hours of, planning, preparation, proof reading, checking and rechecking. It is mailed to all Chapter members and selected portions of it are on line at Chapter Schedule.

Contact information for committee members can be found on the Chapter Committee page.

Trails & WavesThe Chapter Newsletter

TRAILS & Waves is published each quarter as a printed editon, and is also on line in a WWW Edition. It contains news articles about what is going on in the Chapter and the Club, activity reports, schedule changes, letters and editorials.

Contact information for committee members can be found on the Chapter Committee page.

Chapter WebSiteThe Chapter WebSite

And finally, this Internet World Wide Web Site, an electronic publication that you are currently viewing. It contains a vast amount of information about who we are and what we do, as well as up-to-date information on the very latest changes to the activity Schedule and much more.

Contact information for the webmaster can be found on the Chapter Committee page.

Help with our Publications

We can always use people who write well and are familiar with the Chapter's activities. For more information about our publications, or to volunteer to help in some way, contact any of the Editors. Most of the people who work on our publications have many years of experience with the Chapter, but that is not a requirement. If you would like to help, you should be a member of the AMC.
