American Littoral Society joins the AMC for a mid-wk Conservation Workshop at AMC's retreat on the beach at Atlantique. Enjoy the first weekend of summer at the beach. After our Fri. night dinner and welcome, a representative of the Fire Island Wilderness Committee will offer a presentation about Fire Island National Seashore. On Sat., hike to the Sunken Forest for a guided nature tour given by the National Park Service. Sun., hike to the Fire Island Lighthouse for a guided historical tour. Telling our story can be profoundly transformative, affecting every domain of life, from the personal to the political and spiritual. It can help us not only to heal our own wounds, but also contribute to the healing of the world. In this class, award-winning writer Katherine Arnoldi will assist us in creating a safe, supportive circle of writers, which will nurture us and encourage us to discover ourselves and tell our stories. She will guide us through the plot of writing our own stories, and urge us along the journey of making memories come alive on the page. The vibrant colors of fruits and vegetables reflect their nutritional gifts. Join us to learn about the joys of eating the rainbow of nature's foods. We will go blueberry picking and harvest food from the garden. To indulge in the culinary delights, Tue. dinner & Wed. breakfast, there is an additional cost of $20. Our racing clinic and regatta is the most exciting event of the year. All experienced sailors are invited to race for the “Title”. Sat. clinic to learn and practice racing skills. Professional singer Mary Ellen Callahan, in a friendly and informal way, will offer the opportunity for you to learn to read music (really!), sing harmony and rounds, sing folk/pop songs together, and even learn a little proper singing technique. No experience necessary. Bring approx. 10 copies of the words to your favorite song for the sing-along part (check the web.). Other materials provided.
